Tom, Doug, and Lee

Tom, Doug, and Lee . . . it’s TAX DOLLARS, MONEY — not “resources!”

Tom, Doug, and Lee are Albemarle County Government’s County Executive Tom Foley, Deputy County Executive Doug Walker, and Assistant County Executive Lee Catlin.

The “resources” these two men and one woman continually talk about are not animal, vegetable, or mineral — they are TAX DOLLARS.

It’s MONEY, and it’s taken from our billfolds and purses — yours, mine, and theirs.

Government has no resources. It only has our TAX DOLLARS. (Sometimes called “fees,” other times “contributions” — laughably.)

However, Tom, Doug, and Lee, whose combined total compensation hovers around a half million taxpayer dollars annually, just can’t seem to bring themselves to say the dreaded “T” word or even the inoffensively generic “M” word: “money.”

The Board of Supervisors’ work session on Tuesday, October 11 provides a good example once again of Tom, Doug, and Lee’s recurring aphasia when it comes to talking about the public's money.

All three spoke at some length to the six Democrat Supervisors about the “resources” that Albemarle County Government will need to have to carry out the Board’s FY2017-19 Priority-Based Budgeting Plan adopted 6-0 at the same meeting.

Over and over and over again Tom, Doug, and Lee repeated the "R" word “resources, resources, resources” whenever and wherever a Board priority may/will cost taxpayers our money.

Lee talked about “the resource piece.”

Doug talked about “personnel resources.”

Tom replaced the “T” word so often with his “R” word that Lane Auditorium echoed like a financial canyon with “resources, resources, resources, resources, resources.”

Again: government has no “resources.” It only has our TAX DOLLARS, our MONEY.

Tom, Doug, and Lee . . . stop the constant use of your phony “resources” euphemism.

It's TAX DOLLARS. MONEY.

We have to pay it.

You need to say it.
